Hi,
Just got my TT ONE XL-S last night, do initial out of the box back up and doing all the update. I don't see it updating map.
How do I know what is the current map version I have on the unit? what is the current release version?
Thanks,
Augus

- Click on the satellite reception icon in the lower right of the map view, then click the 'version' button again in the lower right. Looking for the number to the right of the word 'App' and the number at the end of the line that starts with 'Map'. The one after Map is the map version. It should look something like this:
You can use the HOME program to check for map updates (Latest Map Guarantee button in the menu), but as of this writing the current map version is 8.25 - As Tim said, you are entitled to the latest map (8.25) which just came out a week or so ago. However, you won't be offered that map unless your application version is 8.3+.
Even then, when you go to Home's menu for Latest Map Guarantee, you may not be offered that map. Home is notorious for being misleading or incorrect about that.
If you get a message that your map is up to date whenyou know it is not, call (don't email) support at 866-486-6866. They're used to this kind of issue. They may ask for a scan, fax or photo of your sales receipt.
And.............
Make an Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents NOW. Ensure hidden folders and files are showing. - Thanks for quick response,
forgot to mention it is a refurb unit.
I don't see satelite icon, will keep looking and call CS.
I will start with explore back up first. - The satellite reception icon is at the lower right of the map display. I've circled something else in this screenshot, but it is to the right of the '11:14'. Keep in mind that most refubs do not qualify for the Latest Map Guarantee.
- edited March 2009haha I was looking for satelite tower kind of icon.
First I tap satelite reception Bar
it take me to another screen
I tap on icon 'Ver 8.010'
it take me to screen for detail info.
I found the info screen.
App 8.010
Map v710.1575 - Sorry......refurbs are not eligible for the lmg in North America as Tim mentioned to you.
They changed their policy a couple of months ago, unfortunately.
Under the category of 'nothing to lose', you could still call support and play dumb about the lmg policy. You may get a really sympathetic support person......not likely, but ............ :? - I call CS, he request to send proof of purchase and free code tag. He also request for device serial number and I was able to get new map :)
downloading atm.
Now
App still 8.010
Map v825.2210 - Great news! What's that song? 'Do you believe in miracles?'
- Augus, what do you mean by 'free code tag'?
Tomtom said some refurb units came with a 'latest map guarantee' coupon inside the box. If you have the coupon, tomtom will provide you with the map, even on a refurb. Maybe this is your 'free code tag', if so this explains your 'miracle'.
So I have this version too. I remember seeing dhn say something about if you don't have a certain version you can't update to the latest map.haha I was looking for satelite tower kind of icon.
I found the info screen.
App 8.010

I have a TomTom One 3rd Edition. I've been meaning to update my map but am I gonna have a problem updating it to the latest kind?
Also, my other question is: if a map version is for example: v825.2210... is that map version applicable towards ANY tomtom device or is it usually for a specific model? I have a friend who is willing to share with me his latest map but I want to make sure I can use it before installing it.
Thanks!
No, sometimes maps (based on device features) can be a bit different. But it doesn't matter anyway. Each map is locked to the device it was downloaded for. Also, my other question is: if a map version is for example: v825.2210... is that map version applicable towards ANY tomtom device or is it usually for a specific model?
